How do I declare my emission sources?

An emission source is any activity or equipment in a site that burns fuel, uses energy or releases gas. Each one is recorded in its own row, linked to a site, so that BCome can apply the right emission factor.

Sources fall into two scopes:

  • Scope 1 (direct): stationary combustion (boilers, generators), mobile combustion (company vehicles) and fugitive emissions (refrigerant leaks).
  • Scope 2 (indirect, purchased energy): electricity, and purchased heat, steam, cooling or compressed air.

Steps

  1. Open the Emission Sources tab.
  2. Add a row per source with its Site ID, a Name (for example, “Main office boiler”), Scope and Category.
  3. For vehicles, also select Vehicle category and Fuel type; for refrigerants, select the Gas type. These columns apply only to Combustion – mobile and Refrigerant – Fugitive.
  4. Repeat for every source. You enter the quantities in the Scope 2 and Scope 1 tabs.

Good to know

  • If you are not sure whether something is a source, ask your BCome contact before leaving it out.
  • Use real consumption whenever you can. If you estimate, say so in the Data source column of each tab.
